Every Sandflail and Gunny Sack is designed, developed, and handmade in Scotland using premium military-spec materials—the same type of materials trusted in demanding professional & military environments.
This level of quality comes at a cost, but it delivers exceptional durability, performance, and aesthetics. From the double-layer Cordura construction to the professional-grade yachting bungee cord, every component has been carefully chosen for strength and reliability.
These are premium training tools designed to grow with you. Micro-adjust the weight, progress at your own pace, and take them anywhere in the world. They pack down small, travel easily, and can be filled with almost anything non-sharp: sand, rice, rubber, steel shot, gravel, and more.

My Background
I’ve been creating since I could hold a crayon. Art, illustration, design, photography, and athletics have always been at the centre of my life.
After studying Design at college and university, I spent many years working professionally across multiple creative disciplines. Alongside this, I trained throughout my youth and developed a lifelong passion for strength, movement, and unconventional training tools.
After suffering a severe chronic arm injury that forced me to step away from my creative career, I turned my focus even deeper into movement and rehabilitation.
I had spent years training with Indian clubs, kettlebells, steel clubs, maces, Persian meels, and custom-made gadas. I loved these tools, but I felt something was missing—a tool that combined their benefits while creating a completely new experience.
After years of experimenting and building prototypes….the Sandflail was born.
The Sandflail
The Sandflail was created as a compact, travel-friendly training tool that could provide strength, mobility, recovery, and flow training anywhere in the world.
Use it like a mace, club, or kettlebell but experience something completely different & unique. The flexible, shifting weight creates a unique dynamic feel that challenges grip, coordination, and circular movement in a way traditional tools cannot.
The Sandflail teaches efficient movement because poor mechanics are immediately obvious. Start lighter than you expect—the same weight feels significantly heavier compared to a traditional mace or club.
A 12kg Sandflail is not the same as a 12kg kettlebell or mace. The instability, torque, and shifting load create a completely different stimulus.
From mobility and joint health to serious strength work, the Sandflail continues to surprise me. After years of use, I still discover new movements regularly.

The Gunny Sack
The Gunny Sack was inspired by my childhood growing up around Scottish farms and seeing large traditional sacks used for transporting materials. That image stayed with me for decades—and eventually became a training tool.
Designed as one of the most versatile and travel-friendly strongman-style tools available, the Gunny Sack combines the feel of a heavy club, kettlebell, and strongman sandbag.
The unique shape allows for movements that traditional sandbags struggle with, while the adjustable loading system makes changing weight quick and simple.
Unlike complicated closures with multiple layers of Velcro and zips, the Gunny Sack is designed for fast adjustments—fill it, secure it, and train.
Made from the same premium military-spec Cordura, with reinforced seams and bonded nylon stitching, it is built for serious training.
